Across the city of Minneapolis, “No Justice, No Peace!” is now a frequent slogan. Minneapolis became an epicentre of social protest with the murder of George Floyd by police in May 2020. Conflicts and disruptions often considered rooted in economics and land are, at their root, cultural.

The dialogue discusses how some artists and cultural organisations elevated their work beyond day-to-day art to address underlying cultural dynamics. If we are to experience peace and sustainable communities, we must address the cultural dimensions of conflicts and land occupation. Cultural practices and cross-cultural understanding are at the heart of peace-making and sustainable communities.
